Soil Instruments Digital Uniaxial Blotooth Horizontal Inclinometer system has been specially developed for high accuracy and resolution measurement and monitoring of settlement or heave under embankments, dams, landfill and storage tanks, utilising the very latest in Bluetooth and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical) technology in the design of the digital inclinometer system provides highly accurate readings.
The system comprise of a probe fitted with guide wheels housing a Solid State (MEMS) accelerometer, connected by a graduated cable to the cable reel and hub which transmits readings to the rugged built PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) via a Bluetooth link.
The sensor enables a vertical deflection profile between the probe axis and the horizontal plane to be recorded. Measurements of tilt versus probe distance along the inclinometer casing are used to determine the vertical settlement profile (given in mm) of the installed casing from true horizontal.
An initial set of base readings are taken at 0.5m intervals within the horizontal casing, measured by graduation markers on the control cable. Subsequent sets of readings are taken at the same points. The vertical deflection of the casing is obtained by integration of the observed vertical deviation (as displayed and stored in the PDA) from the initial base readings.
